Who we are
We are an Australian-owned and veteran-operated company working within the Defence Industry Security Program to manage AGSVA security clearances for consultants and contractors who require a clearance to work with Defence or other Commonwealth entities.
What we do
We help people get a security clearance if they need one. We can also reactivate an inactive clearance. For us to sponsor any clearance, you must be able to demonstrate a genuine need for that clearance.
How we do it
ClearMe sponsors people with a genuine need for an active security clearance. Applicants should read the government direction in the links below to satisfy themselves their need for a clearance is valid and that they meet the minimum age and nationality requirements. Having done so, they can apply for access to our services by completing our eligibility test.
We will review the completed eligibility test and advise what applicants need to do next by email. Typically, the next step is an initial screening check. ClearMe uses a registered third party to conduct identity and Police checking. Their fee is a component of our overall fee.
Once initial screening is completed, users are invited to purchase our security management services. Services cannot be purchased for longer than three months as ClearMe staff need to be confident an ongoing need for an active security clearance exists, and that clearance holders are compliant with training and other essential reporting requirements.
Once our quarterly fee is paid, we begin training and managing an applicant’s security needs immediately — this is irrespective of whether you are applying for a new clearance or reactivating an inactive one. This ensures all applicants are "security ready" as soon as AGSVA have completed their assessment.
Any new clearance application also requires payment of the appropriate AGSVA fee. That fee is charged by AGSVA for their processing of an application. It is collected by ClearMe for payment to AGSVA.
AGSVA fees are published on the AGSVA website.
To maintain ClearMe sponsorship and support, a Quarterly Management Fee must be repurchased in the month prior to your quarter ending. You can check your expiry dates for both your security clearance and your management fee at any time once you get a login.

Worked scenarios
Existing security clearance
Emily has a security clearance she wishes to maintain after leaving her last role with the APS while she applies for Government-related work in the private sector. The APS has withdrawn sponsorship of her clearance so it is now inactive.
ClearMe will sponsor Emily. After she completes our initial screening process and pays her Quarterly Management Fee, Emily will do our Annual Security Training then request we reactivate her security clearance.
No security clearance
Michael is a university graduate seeking private sector work in IT engineering with Defence. He has no security clearance. Michael has found opportunities with several contracting businesses, but they all require he has a security clearance.
ClearMe may sponsor Michael. If we are satisfied his need meets the AGSVA requirements, we will accept his request to join us. Typically, we are most comfortable with applicants evidencing their need for a security clearance using existing businesses or placement organisations with a history of providing staff to government.
